Jenx Ltd are the pioneers of postural equipment for children, whose headquarters are based in Hillsborough, Sheffield, along with their UK retail division, Jiraffe. The company was founded back in 1982 by a pediatric physiotherapist and a product designer with the aim of enriching lives and changing perceptions about disability. Our company continues to stay true to its founders’ values, with a vision to “ensure a better life and brighter future for children with special needs.” Ever since, we have been researching, designing, and manufacturing ground-breaking developmental postural equipment to support children with specific postural needs. As we congratulate Medilink for their 25th anniversary, it provides a great opportunity to reflect on our own achievements over the last 25 years.

 

We have continued to design, innovate, and achieve growth, providing thousands of products, contributing to changing children’s lives globally. We have continued to launch new products to the market, whilst also celebrating the 25th year anniversary of one of our most popular products – Monkey Prone Stander, a standing frame aimed at early intervention postural management.

 

In recent years, we have won numerous industry and local business awards including The Best Product in the British Health Care Trades Association Awards in 2018, and Export Award winners in the Made in Sheffield 2020 Awards.

 

Jenx has also seen significant growth in both home market and export, resulting in thousands of pieces of equipment being shipped worldwide. We’re working in partnership with over 40 distributors to provide vulnerable children with access to equipment, continuing our mission; To enable each and every child to have the best possible opportunity of a functional, pain-free future. To work in partnership with the people who matter to make our society a better place for those with disabilities. To make a positive difference to our communities by staying true to our vision and values and being an outstanding employer.

 

This growth has resulted in numerous recruitment drives offering job opportunities throughout the local area helping to grow our manufacturing capabilities to bolster our internal infrastructure, ensuring longevity of Jenx and Jiraffe. Since reaching our 100th employee milestone in July 2019, we have increased workforce by 35% continuing to provide job opportunities throughout the global pandemic, keeping our doors open.

 

Throughout the years, we have seen changes in clinical practice due to continued research into postural management for children. By working in partnership with therapists around the world, we have ensured that we are able to use our research capabilities to fuel our product development.

 

Access to vital equipment to support postural needs has also resulted in many changes within our sector, as we navigate through the complex global healthcare systems and funding streams to ensure everyone in need can access our equipment. This became even more apparent during the global pandemic, and as a result, Jiraffe introduced an Emergency Equipment Provision scheme, a low-cost service granting flexible, easy access to a range of postural support equipment.

 

Over the last couple years, we have also seen a change in our practices, due to the fast-tracked introduction of remote working and a higher focus on digital. We have grown our digital offering as a business through online appointments, clinical training, and resources through our Knowledge & Know-How bank of webinars, blogs, and training sessions.

 

We were honoured to have been provided with a major accolade for the work of our incredible team to support children with disabilities and their families throughout the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK, being formally recognised by the British Chambers of Commerce and Sheffield Chamber of Commerce as a ‘UK Business Hero’, receiving an official letter of congratulations from Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex GCVO.

 

As we look forwards, we have ambitious business growth targets to continue our mission and vision as a company, ensuring that we can continue supporting vulnerable children who can benefit from accessing our equipment. To achieve growth and our company mission, we are continuing to work in partnership with organisations to help support this, such as Medilink. We’re proud to have been a member of Medilink for nearly 10 years, and over this time have formed a fantastic relationship with them.
