An innovative seat designed by a UK company to support people with neurological and acquired neurological conditions is to be exhibited at the world’s largest assistive technologies and rehabilitation exhibition.
The Bambach Saddle Seat, which was created to offer real benefits for adults and young people living with conditions such as cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, brain injury and stroke victims, will feature on the Medilink UK Pavilion (3A74) at REHACARE held from 14-17 October at Messe, Düsseldorf.
The seat was created when it was found that a woman with cerebral palsy was able to ride on horseback unassisted, however when she returned to her wheelchair she was unable to sit without restraint. The innovative solution was to replicate the saddle shape to work with the natural biomechanics of the body to keep the pelvis in a neutral position, which then in turn supports the spine maintaining the natural “S” shape, with the centre of gravity of the upper body immediately over the sitting bones.
As well as the Saddle Seat, Essex-based Bambach will also be showcasing the new Buddy System designed specifically for children to offer the same sitting position as the Saddle Seat, but with the addition of further pelvic and thoracic support so that the less able will now be able to benefit from this unique sitting position.
Chris Langham, Director, The Bambach Saddle Seat (Europe) Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be exhibiting at REHACARE, from where we can clearly demonstrate the real life-changing opportunities that both the Saddle Seat and the Buddy System offer to potential customers across the whole of Europe.”
Attracting over 50,000 visitors annually, REHACARE is the most important trade fair in the world for rehabilitation, prevention, integration and care seen as the ideal stepping stone for companies looking to expand globally and to meet potential new partners. The Bambach Saddle Seat and Buddy System will be exhibited from the Medilink UK Pavilion (3A74) in Hall 3.
