YORKSHIRE companies attracted interest from across the globe at REHACARE 2009, Düsseldorf, highlighting exactly why our region is a world leader in the Assistive Technologies and Rehabilitation sector.
Every year the show highlights the most pioneering products from across the sector and this year this was reflected in the wide range of innovative products and solutions exhibited on the UK Pavilion.
Throughout the four day show all 24 UK companies, many from the region, were visited by distributors, healthcare professionals and visitors from countries across the globe representing countries such as Australia, the Middle East, Europe, China and the US.
Charlotte Fraser, International Manager at Medilink Yorkshire & Humber (Y&H), regional sector specialist for UKTI and organiser of the UK Pavilion, said: “As the population in the UK and Europe increasingly ages, attention is focusing on the need to provide innovative support through products and services, which enable people to live more independently and reduce the time people spend in hospital or in care. This is an area that the UK specialises in and it was great to see how much international interest there were in regional and UK products at the show.”
One regional company exhibiting at the show was Sheffield-based Camelot Furniture, who specialise in electrically operated lift and recline chairs. With over 70 years of manufacturing experience, the company designs chairs which offer assistance, independence and valuable support for the elderly and less able.
Experia, from West Yorkshire, were also at the show exhibiting their groundbreaking sensory room. From an African rainforest to a step back in time to the Roman Empire, the sensory room transports people’s imagination around the world, backwards and forwards in time with this calming and stimulating learning environment.
