Leeds based Xiros, recent winners of a Queens Award for Enterprise in International Trade, continued its entrepreneurial drive in recruiting Marcus Orton, a more experienced design engineer than it had originally been looking for - the decision paid off and Marcus is now the company’s Innovation Director.
In 2007, Xiros, the medical equipment manufacturer, was looking for a design engineer to work at its Leeds facility. Until working with Jonathan Lee Recruitment the company had struggled to fill the position. Progress was made when the consultancy suggested considering Marcus Orton, a senior design engineer and design manager. Andy Tierney, Jonathan Lee’s Head of Northern Operations, explains: “Despite his seniority, we felt that Xiros was a good fit for Marcus. After a rigorous interview process Xiros happily, agreed and Marcus was offered the position.”
Once appointed, Marcus quickly took on a more strategic role and was soon promoted to Innovations Director. He is delighted with the outcome: “Xiros shares an exciting vision and energy with its team, partners and customers. This is helping us to secure robust opportunities for the development of medical devices, production capability, and new markets for this successful and growing business.”
