Leeds based Surgical Innovations has been crowned SME Manufacturer of the Year at the prestigious Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business awards.
Winning the award the company was recognised for their strategic decision to consolidate its business from five small units and relocate to one head office and manufacturing facility in the heart of Leeds. A move which has tripled the size of their head office and brought together the design and manufacturing elements of the business under one roof.
The award also highlighted their commitment to invest £1.3 million in both machinery and infrastructure and also increase its workforce by 50% over the last year.
“We are proud of its roots and wanted to invest in the region’s manufacturing industry which is why we decided to buck the trend of overseas manufacturing in favor of manufacturing all of its products in Yorkshire,” said Graham Bowland Managing Director of Surgical Innovations. “This is an exceptional achievement and we are delighted to have been so highly recognised by the region’s business community.”
The Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business awards is a celebration of the best companies in the region and this year was presented by impressionist Jon Culshaw and keynote speaker Schools Minister Ed Balls.
