New regulations on medical devices being sold in Saudi Arabia have been introduced by the Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA)
A consortium of industry experts has won a further grant to develop a novel regenerative medicine product to help repair wounds such as those suffered by skin cancer patients. EktoTherix™, a bioresorbable “tissue scaffold” material that assists in patient tissue repair and regeneration, has been developed by York based Neotherix Limited supported by Lorien Engineering Solutions and Smith & Nephew.

Medilink have taken the first steps towards commissioning the UK’s first ever economic study on the annual costs of wound management to the NHS.

NICE, the healthcare guidance body has published final guidance supporting the PleurX catheter system. The report confirms that the catheter drainage system could help improve patients’ quality of life and save the NHS almost £900k a year.
American company Certara has acquired UK-based modelling and simulation software company Simcyp for £20 million in a bid to offer pharmaceutical customers a single platform for drug discovery through preclinical and clinical development and clinical trials.
