Yorkshire healthcare companies hoping to expand their businesses to Latin America are already reaping the benefits after a successful trip to HOSPITALAR 2010 exhibition held in São Paulo, Brazil.
Showcasing a pioneering scalp cooler, Huddersfield based Paxman Coolers, was delighted to appoint a new Brazilian partner at the show expanding their already buoyant export business.
Sensory specialist Experia also attracted interest from a number of countries from the region and throughout the show received a large order for a top of the range sensory room from the Peruvian equivalent to Childrens in Need.
Also enjoying a successful exhibition was Leeds based Surgical Innovations, who attended the show for the second year in a row. The company who has recently been awarded a Queen’s Award for Enterprise under the Innovation category used to event to raise the profile of their pioneering range of Resposable® instrumentation - devices which combine both single use and reusable components.
Speaking about the show Managing Director of Experia Gareth Jones, said: “Hospitalar was a great show for us and we have had some excellent interest from hospitals and schools across Latin America. All our products offer innovation, accessibility and fun and I am delighted that Peruvian children will now be able to benefit from our sensory equipment.”
Echoing these comments, Operations Director Richard Paxman of Paxman Coolers, said: “We have signed an exclusive deal with a Brazilian distributor at the show and are looking forward to seeing our cooling caps in this new market. There are 700 Oncology hospitals in Brazil and the market holds a number of major opportunities for us.”
Latin America is a key target market for many Yorkshire healthcare businesses and HOSPITALAR – the most important health fair and forum in Latin America – is a good way for companies to showcase their technologies to an audience of 88,000 healthcare officials and representatives.
This year the British Pavilion was the largest on record and supporting all the companies was UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), the UK Government’s international business development body, and Medilink Yorkshire and Humber (Y&H) – a professional trade association that works on behalf of the healthcare technology industry to support its growth and development.
Medilink (Y&H) is keen to hear from any regional healthcare company who is interested in doing business in Latin America. If you would like to find out more or are interested in exhibiting at Hospitalar 2011 email
