The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in travel being largely restricted and physical events being postponed or cancelled. This included some of the world’s largest healthcare and Life Sciences exhibitions where companies usually have a chance to showcase their products, services, solutions and devices to global healthcare professionals.
Between June and November, the International Team at Medilink supported 161 UK companies in participating at three, large-scale virtual exhibitions – Omnia Health Live Global, Omnia Health Live Africa and Omnia Health Americas, which acted as comprehensive and cost-effective platforms for the industry to stay connected, network and share knowledge, all from their home or office.
During these virtual exhibitions, participating companies had an opportunity to generate connections through AI tailored match-making, meet virtually with other industry professionals and listen to a range of webinars with some fantastic key-note speakers and healthcare experts including the Director General of the World Health Organisation. New virtual event technology provided a variety of convenient and creative ways to showcase and demonstrate products or services to the visitors – for example, through specifications, photos, manuals and videos.
Companies engaged with a range of international contacts at each exhibition, with some participants making over 100 connections to prospective customers during the five-day events, which resulted in further networking and business opportunities.
Virtual exhibitions have been valuable during the global pandemic and have given companies a way to continue to explore international opportunities remotely, ahead of a return to the pre-pandemic ‘normal’ of physical events.

Medilink are also supporting a series of upcoming virtual events hosted by the Department for International Trade in which healthcare and Life Sciences companies will be able to gain insight into overseas markets including: North America, China, Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Latin America and the Caribbean. These sessions host a series of specialist speakers and showcase best practice along with the support available internationally from the Department for International Trade.
