The average person goes to the toilet up to eight times a day. For anyone with a disability this is a constant challenge, but thanks to the latest developments from a Cheshire based company this basic function can be done with little or even no help, whether in or out of home.

Based in Sale Clos-o-Mat – the manufacturer and supplier of the UK’s leading automatic ‘wash and dry’ toilet - has applied its expertise from 50 years’ working with the less able, to develop and launch new products that meet the individual’s personal needs.

The range , which will all be demonstrated live at the Rehacare exhibition in Dusseldorf next month, includes height-adjustable versions of the all-encompassing Clos-o-Mat ‘wash and dry’ toilets which replaces the need to wipe clean after toileting with an integral douche and drier facility.

The Clos-o-Mat Palma Vita was the first automatic ‘wash and dry’ toilet developed specifically for disabled people. Aesthetically the same as a traditional WC, its facilitating functions make it ideal for individuals and multi-user environments alike.

Robin Tuffley, Clos-o-Mat Marketing Manager, said: “65million people in the EU are disabled- that’s 10% of the population, and equivalent to the entire population of Belgium. With 40% of the EU population with reduced mobility there is a demonstrable need for help in the domestic environment.

“Research proves time and again that people will make a conscious decision not to visit somewhere if they believe they cannot toilet in a suitable environment- whether disabled or not. Provision of suitable toileting equipment in public and commercial environments will prompt those people to visit- and spend money at- your venue rather than somewhere else: in the UK, for example, 12% of domestic overnight trips are undertaken by people with access needs, so the potential market is significant.”

Clos-o-Mat has also introduced the Clos-o-Mat Lima Vita, available as a fixed wall-hung system, or with height adjustability for ultimate flexibility in multi-user situations.

Clos-o-Mat ‘wash and dry’ toilets are today widely used throughout Europe, with over 40,000 installed in the UK alone, some of which have been in service for over three decades, demonstrating the equipment’s build quality and practicality. Units are installed in locations as diverse as individual’s homes through shopping centres and hospitals to care homes and even on a tall ship.

Full details of the units, accessories and additional aids to optimise toilet accessibility are available at www.clos-o-mat.com

The Rehacare exhbition will take place from October from 6-9th October 2010 and throughout the show Clos-o-Mat will be located on the British Pavillion in hall 3, stand 3A76-E
