Opportunities for Yorkshire and Humber companies looking to progress in the Brazilian market have been strengthened further thanks to a key partnership agreement.
With support from UKTI Yorkshire, Medilink’s Managing Director, Kevin Kiely, met with the Vice Presidents of the Brazilian Healthcare Trade Association, ABIMO, in February, and visited medical device companies, a leading private hospital and the Innovation Centre at Sao Paulo University.
Further to the successful visit, ABIMO has identified 23 companies looking to develop working partnerships with UK healthcare companies in specific areas such as joint ventures, manufacturing and technology transfer.

ABIMO is also looking to identify Medilink Yorkshire & Humber members that are interested in developing relationships with peers in Brazil. To express your interest, please contact Peter Wheeler, Medilink’s Senior International Coordinator (details at bottom of article).
Next month, Sao Paulo will host the 19th Hospitalar exhibition (22nd – 25th May). With 1,250 exhibiting companies from around 35 countries and 90,000 visitors expected, Hospitalar is the biggest healthcare exhibition in South America and one of the most important export opportunities for UK healthcare companies throughout the year.
Brazil has the largest healthcare market in Latin America with an annual spend of £7.8billion, more than 7,000 hospitals and 280,000 doctors. It also has the largest medical devices market in Latin America with imports that amount to £350million and a total internal market of almost £1billion.
This year, UK companies will showcase their pioneering technologies on the UK Pavilion run by Medilink Yorkshire & Humber (MLYH) with the support of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI).
