The Sheffield Assay Office opened its doors to business owners and professionals to welcome them to an event looking at key current topics for healthcare and life science companies such as global regulation, selling to the NHS and the role of intellectual property.
At the event the team from the Sheffield Assay Office gave a detailed history of the business including an introduction, from Dr Belen Morales, to their Analytical Services Division, which helps companies in professional testing around developing new products in healthcare.
Frazer Bye, Patent Attorney from HGF, gave helpful advice to the 40 delegates in the room as he explained the differences between different types of intellectual property, and how the details affected the way they protect their products and services.
David Ashworth, CEO of Flintloque Management Solutions, brought life to a discussion on EU regulations and the changes that are coming in the next few years. In a topic that many are uncertain about, David gave frank advice about the necessity of being prepared for the upcoming changes.
Head of clinical contracts at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, George Anderson offered meaningful advice to those trying to get their devices in front of the NHS.
“Everyone tells me they can save me money but they don’t know what I’m using at the moment.”
George said the first hurdle many companies fall at is not researching the trust they are approaching and not learning the right information before starting to pitch.
The event also offered networking opportunities for speakers and delegates and a tour of the testing facilities of the Sheffield Assay Office to learn more about the testing of precious metals and other elements.
