A patent can provide protection for a broad inventive concept or a narrow technological advance. The management and development of IP is often a complex process, however once IP is protected it becomes a valuable business asset and an important commercial tool.
I recently hosted a breakfast meeting at the Medilink Yorkshire and Humber offices, which focused on medical and health care related innovations. The session provided an overview of patents to help convert concepts and ideas into revenue streams.
The seminar explored the following questions:
What can be protected?
Why protect it?
The application grant process?
Infringement of patents?
