Street: Post Graduate Medical Centre, University Hospital
This biennial event is to promote STFC funded research and their interaction with the healthcare community. STFC hope this workshop will generate the impetus for new technology transfer from physics that will aid future cancer diagnosis and therapy. Building on the success of previous healthcare events, the 2009 event concentrates on current and future advances in radiotherapy and is poignantly hosted amidst the medical community at the University Hospitals Birmingham.
The objective is to showcase successful partnerships and stimulate new activity between physics, engineering groups, healthcare companies and healthcare researchers, for outcomes in medical imaging and radiotherapy.
This event addresses two frontiers of cancer treatment; imaging and dosimetry
The theme will be of interest to companies in the healthcare equipment sector, medical physicists, clinical researchers, engineers, physicists and IT specialists with an interest in radiotherapy.
The workshop offers a rare opportunity for industrialists and academics engaged in these areas to network, compare needs and capabilities, and explore possibilities for collaboration.
The event will give participants:
• An opportunity to investigate some of the latest technological advances
• The chance to make direct contact with the UK’s leading technology groups
• Case study examples of successful transfers of technology know-how to healthcare industries
• The chance to network and identify potential partners
Representatives from the STFC Innovations directorate will be on hand to provide advice and support related to the transfer of technologies in the context of applications and development of technology.
