The first half of the workshop event discusses and demonstrates a spreadsheet-based tool, developed by the Multidisciplinary Assessment of Technology Centre for Healthcare (MATCH), which constructs a reliable view of cost-effectiveness for use early in the development of a new medical device. As the development process progresses, information used by the tool can be refined and deployed to communicate the true product value to purchasers. The second half of the workshop will provide insight into regulatory requirements surrounding user needs testing, discuss different methods for eliciting user information, and carry out a demonstration to highlight the practical considerations associated with engaging with the patient, carer or clinician.
