In Belgium, hospitals are the largest users of medical products. Most opportunities lie in the refurbishing of hospitals increased care for the elderly, products for home care of patients and revalidation, and also in the construction and fitting out of homes for the elderly and special houses for the elderly offer opportunities. Greater care is also given to the mentally ill.

Another development was the launch in 2006 of the E-Platform, the purpose of this platform is to stimulate innovation and co-operation amongst ICT-related actors, in order to develop and supply products, service offerings and solutions to the healthcare sector in Belgium mainly through monitoring and improving cost efficiency.

Charlotte Fraser, International Manager (Medilink) / Healthcare Technologies Sector Specialist (UKTI Yorkshire) will be hosting Nadine Vanderbrouche (Healthcare specialist from Belgium) here in Yorkshire on the 19 May 2010.
