Course benefits
Patents are the lifeblood of technology transfer offices but how can we protect those innovations that cannot be patented? In the toolbox, copyright, database rights, designs and design registration, confidential information and trade marks form part of the technology transfer office’s arsenal.
Designed to improve work-based outcomes, this course provides essential skills for delegates in intellectual property rights techniques that are critical in safeguarding those hard-to-protect innovations.
Course content
This one-day practical information and skills development course will provide delegates with a working understanding of copyright, database rights, designs, registered designs, confidential information and trade mark law. Following attendance, delegates will be able to make informed judgements on how to protect IP, understand what is protected, the costs of protection, ownership, and licensing. Attendees will also get immediate access to a network of like-minded colleagues.
Course delivery
The course will be led by Maureen Kelly, a solicitor with Keystone Law specialising in intellectual property and technology law. Using case studies and exercises to illustrate, delegates will get practical experience in these key areas.
