Tapping into the Chinese Market

July 25, 2017 @ 9:30 am - 1:30 pm

Do thoughts of exploring the Chinese Market make you nervous?

Do you think that entering the Chinese market would be risky business?

Presently, the medical/health sector in China is undergoing a transformation in response to; an aging population, a middle class which is increasing in wealth and size and opening up of the Chinese state to western medical technology and approaches. This provides opportunities for British companies, particularly in light of Brexit.

Medilink West Midlands' workshop will provide you with the opportunities and information to make entering the Chinese market possible. The workshop will present a model for how businesses can access the Chinese market whilst keeping risk to a minimum. This model will help to identify appropriate Chinese partners and investors, provide advice and support on the medical sector and give access to office, R&D and manufacturing facilities.

Covered topics will include:

  • An introduction to the Chinese medical sector
  • The drivers (central and regional policy, demographics etc.) behind the expanding medical sector
  • Opportunities for British companies
  • Doing business in China
  • Identifying the support available

This workshop is designed for: Companies interested in exploring business opportunities in China

There will be time for a Q&A Session at the end of the Workshop.

Presentation by: Mark Schneider, West Midlands International Service

Mark has been involved in innovation and knowledge transfer for over 20 years. During that time he managed a number of complex projects and services, involving multi-partners and stakeholders in the UK, Europe and China. He worked in the UK university sector, undertaking business development and knowledge transfer activities, worked with UK businesses, helping them to transfer their technology to Europe and China and provided support and training to European universities interested in developing their commercial activities.

Mark spent 8 years in Luxembourg and Brussels delivering innovation and technology transfer support and training on behalf of the European Commission. Since May 2013 he has been working with partners in China to help West Midlands organisations develop business, R&D and civic links with Chinese regions and cities. Much of this work has been financially supported by West Midland local authorities and by DG REGIO.
