India Growth Champion Scheme

India will be the third biggest economy in the world by 2030 and is predicted to grow at an average of 5.9% per annum until 2050, making it the most rapidly expanding of all G20 countries.
In 2015, the Sheffield City Region (SCR) exported £81m worth of goods to India – making it the region’s 12th largest trading partner.
In 2017, they introduced the strategy: ‘Make in India, Design and Develop with the Sheffield City Region’ and have started to build relationships with Indian companies, particularly in the advanced manufacturing sector.
The India Growth Champions Scheme is a joint venture between the SCR and the UK-India Business Council (UKIBC) and is looking for 10 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the Sheffield City Region who want to develop their business links with India, which will culminate in a trade mission to the country in 2021.
Successful applicants will receive 10 days of dedicated support. Alongside the development of an India business plan which will include company-specific market research and competitor analysis alongside workshops, business mentoring and appointments.
