    General arterial and venous disease, aneurysm and carotid surgery including varicose veins, limb salvage surgery and wound care, lymphoedema.

    Profile 
    Prof Peter Vowden heads the Department of Vascular Surgery at the Bradford Royal Infirmary and is currently Visiting Professor in Wound Healing Research at the University of Bradford.

    Qualifying in Leeds in 1976 he worked in Cambridge and Bristol before taking up his current position in Bradford Teaching Hospital in 1990. In partnership with his wife he has developed a specialist wound healing unit and has a particular interest in the management of lower limb and diabetic foot ulceration. Peter’s research interests include wound measurement and vascular assessment where he is currently working on a number of projects focusing on wound diagnostics and the active management of the wound bed using a hydrogel-based wound management system. He has published widely on wound care and authored several book chapters on wound management. He is the immediate Past President of the European Wound Management Association.

Mark has over 25 years experience in the Medical Device Sector within S&N and has deep experience of bringing Innovative products to Global Markets. He has a PhD in Biochemistry and an MBA. Within S&N he has ran the Global Innovation Team for 3 years and In 2000 S&N won the UK Innovator of the Year award. Before that he ran the R&D group for 10 years.

    He is a member of the Yorkshire Innovation Council, Chair of the Hull and Humber Healthcare Technologies Group (a cross Business, NHS, University and Public Sector Group aiming to stimulate growth in this Sector in the Sub Region) and is on UK HealthTech and Medicines KTN Steering Board.

    Hobbies are running, walking and music. He is married and lives in York.

    Having graduated from Manchester with a PhD in composite materials, I worked for a short period in the ceramics industry before moving to a textile company which was very active in the medical field manufacturing surgical gown fabrics, orthopaedic padding and dressing materials for a variety of manufacturers. Before joining Smith and Nephew Wound Management in Hull in 1999, I Joined Smith and Nephew’s research facility in York as Research Programme Manager. During my time there I managed programmes in Casting, Bandaging, Surgical Gloves and Wound Management. In 2005 I joined Johnson and Johnson Wound Management in Gargrave as Director of Research and Development. I then transferred with the business upon its divesture to Systagenic Wound Management as Vice President of Product Development and Quality. I am currently responsible for R&D, Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance.
