    3. A further 5 major global companies are located within 60 miles of Yorkshire, namely, Advanced Medical Solutions, Convatec, 3M and Vernon-Carus Ltd (part of synergy healthcare).

    4. Leading centres for clinical treatment, investigation and trials of chronic wounds - the Wound Healing Institute in Bradford and the Wound Care Institute in Hull (a joint initiative between University of Hull, Smith & Nephew and the NHS).

    5. Major centres of excellence in underpinning technologies such as Sheffield University Centre for Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering, The Kroto Research Institute and the Centre for Stem Cell Biology in Sheffield, the Biomaterial and Tissue Engineering Group based in Leeds and the Polymer Centre for Industrial Collaboration in Bradford.

    6.
