Who do you want to talk to?
Identifying the people you want to communicate to, is as important as deciding what message you are communicating and will need careful consideration.
If you want to talk to lots of different audiences - doctors, surgeons, Government officials, procurement staff or patients – then you will need to decide who is your priority or which groups of people you want to target first.
Some audiences may have high interest but low power; for example someone may be really interested in your product but have no purchasing say or they could have lots of purchasing power but are not currently interested in you or your products at all. Understanding this will help you prioritise.
There may also be a number of groups that you have to communicate to before anyone else such as your shareholders. Again factors like these will need to be built into your communications plans.
Once you have decided who it is you want to target, in what order, you can then starting planning your communications activities accordingly.
